Active Ingredient: L-Carnosine 50mg/ml

L-Carnosine is an anti-oxidant (thus reducing tissue damage) and also a primary muscle buffer.

Carnosine is a physiological antioxidant which is able to scavenge free radicals and efficiently protect the lipid phase of all cell membranes.  It is also a mild anti-inflammatory compound and is also ia a prominent component in wound healing.

Carnosine is a primary muscle buffer.  In muscle tissue, phosphate and carnosine together provide approximately 90% of the buffering capacity.  The intense exercise involves an anaerobic component and therefore results in significant reductions in ATP, which increases muscle lactic acid and also increases tissue acidity.  Although the acidity can normally be buffered by the body, under high-stress conditions, the lactic acid build-up is too fast for the body to deal with.  With the increasing acidity comes premature muscle fatigue with an associated decrease in performance.

Dosage and Administration:  Administer on the advice of your veterinarian. The usual dose for adult horses is 20ml prior to hard work.
